At an elevation of just over six thousand feet is Schweitzer Mountain Resort, where some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the West can be had. Schweitzer is comprised of more than 2,000 acres of terrain, 62 trails, and two open bowls. Schweitzer is only eleven miles from downtown Sandpoint, and offers views and vantages of Sandpoint, Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding area that you can’t get anywhere else.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort is a legend in the making: an undiscovered jewel for skiers of all levels. Schweitzer is a powder paradise. There are acres and acres of towering pines spilling over the ridges on both the front and back of the mountain. From the Schweitzer chairlifts, you can be treated to stunning vistas not accessible from any other place in Idaho, including miles and miles of rolling mountains as far as the eye can see and the sunlight (or moonlight) shimmering off the lakes and rivers of the Sandpoint area.
